Set in 1960s Louisiana, the film focuses on a prominent American Creole family that begins to unravel when the father’s infidelity is witnessed by his impressionable 10-year-old daughter, sending her to a voodoo priestess for recourse, redress, and maybe revenge. Samuel L. Jackson and Jurnee Smollett star. Roger Ebert named Eve’s Bayou the best film of 1997 and it was added to the Library of Congress’ National Film Registry in 2018.
