Art world titan Anselm Kiefer is the subject of Wim Wenders’ second 3D portrait of a German artist. (2011’s Pina, about dancer and choreographer Pina Bausch, was the first). Shot in 6K resolution over two years, Wenders’ new film focuses on Kiefer (b. 1945) and his monumental works that combine painting and sculpture to confront the darker aspects of German history. (His imposing 1989 masterpiece Lot’s Wife is in the collection of the Cleveland Museum of Art.) Cleveland premiere. Subtitles. DCP. 93 min. This screening will take place at the Cedar Lee Theatre, 2163 Lee Rd. in Cleveland Heights. Special admission (includes 3D glasses) $14; Cinematheque members, CIA & CSU I.D. holders, and those age 25 & under $11. Advance tickets can be purchased only at clevelandcinemas.com.
