Harveysburg Historic Fall Fest

The 10 Annual Harveysburg Historic Fall Fest is a celebration of the history of the Elizabeth Harvey First Free Black School in Ohio which was built in 1831 & put on the National Register of Historic Places in 1977! It is a day of entertainment, learning, food, fun and memories. Community friends & tourists gather to enjoy a fun day while helping raise funds to maintain an irreplaceable part of history. Enjoy the day by listening to the Free live entertainment, visiting a variety of vendors, & participating in activities including making rocks of kindness, kids craft and free make and take. Tour the Elizabeth Harvey First Free Black School & visit our Freedom Through Education Display, Civil War Demonstration, and community & craft vendor booths to earn your free raffle tickets. Raffle drawings are held every hour.
Enjoy sites on the ODOT Quaker Scenic Byway. Take the Tour at your own pace which includes the First Free Black School in Ohio.
Parking, admission and entertainment are free and will be held at the First Free Black School Museum site located at 23 North Street Harveysburg, OH 45032 (OFF STATE ROUTE 73 LESS THAN A MILE FROM RENAISSANCE).
Elizabeth Harvey truly believed a person was not free until they were educated.
One of the children educated at this school, Orindatus S.B. Wall became the 1st African American Captain in the U.S. Army & is buried in Arlington National Cemetery.
