Himler of Himlerville and the World

2929 Richmond Rd., Beachwood, OH 44122
Just twelve years later, Himler spoke fluent English, formed the Himler Coal Company, built the coal mining town of Himlerville in Eastern Kentucky, and launched a weekly newspaper, Magyar Bányászlap (Hungarian Miners’ Journal), with a circulation of 60,000 in America and Hungary. During World War II, the fifty-five-year-old Himler was called to Washington, DC by the Office of Strategic Services, now CIA, to serve America and the world by locating, arresting, holding, and often interrogating more than 300 Nazi war criminals, and posthumously honored for his work with the presentation of the Congressional Gold Medal. Join Kathryn Racz Allen of The Hungarian Cultural Center of Northeast Ohio and Annette Cassady Munson who, along with her cousins, have interviewed the community of Himlerville to gather facts, photos, and stories in the development of Martin Himler’s biography, during this enlightening discussion of what one man did for the many Jewish people who perished during World War II.
