The Final Waltz: Viennese Operetta and the Anschluss

THE FINAL WALTZ celebrates operetta’s popularity in Vienna and explores the challenges faced by its creators during Hitler’s annexation of Austria and the ensuing Holocaust. Written by performer and educator Daniel Neer, the program features famous melodies from late-1930’s Vienna, with compelling narration and archival film and photography of the era, showcasing the melting pot of European elegance, bubbly farce, and artistic excellence meeting the approaching storm of Berlin’s Third Reich.
