Byrd Polar and Climate Research Center Public Tour

The center includes freezers housing 4.5 miles of ice cores from remote glaciers, the Polar Rock Repository containing more than 60,000 samples, and an archive of human exploration of polar regions. The Center is named in honor of polar explorer and aviator, Rear Admiral Richard E. Byrd.
