The story, told through the eyes of Eunice Paiva (Fernanda Torres), the wife of a civil engineer and politician Rubens Paiva (Selton Mello) who was disappeared by the regime, was based on the book of the same name by Marcelo Rubens Paiva, Rubens’ son. This is also a personal film for Salles, who knew and spent time with the Paiva family before the tragedy. The film is a testament to resilience against injustice.
