Guiseppe Verdi's La Traviata

La Traviata is a romantic tragedy opera in three acts by the Italian composer Giuseppe Verdi, which premiered in 1853. The libretto was written by Francesco Maria Paive, based on the play La Dame aux camelias by Alexandre Dumas fils, which itself was adapted from Dumas' novel of the same name.
The title translates to "The Fallen Woman" and tells the story of Violetta Valery, A Parisian courtesan who falls in love with a young nobleman named Alfredo and tries to leave her life behind to find true love. The opera explores themes of love, jealousy, loyalty, hatred and the hypocrisy of the upper-class society.
