The Lore of the Pawpaw
The Lore of the Pawpaw spotlights Ohio’s state native fruit, the pawpaw, or Asimina triloba, through contemporary photography and videography by nationally acclaimed photojournalist and Ohio native Madeleine Hordinski. As the focal point of the Lloyd Library & Museum’s 2024 FotoFocus Biennial exhibition, Lore vividly illustrates how pawpaws are valued, celebrated, and revered within local culture while highlighting their natural allure. Hordinski explores why Ohio is the heartland of pawpaw fruits and how influential Ohioans have changed the way people, and the world, interrelate with the native fruit.
