The Greater Columbus Arts Council (GCAC) has released its detailed guidelines for the 2025 grant programs, outlining updates and increases to various funding opportunities for artists and arts organizations in Columbus. Key changes include a significant increase in the ‘Funds for Artists’ grants, now offering $1,200 annually and expanding eligible expenses to include legal costs, alongside a pilot program connecting artists with legal services.
The ‘Project Support’ grants for arts nonprofits will see an increase to $30,000, supporting a wide array of arts and cultural projects. The ‘Artist Projects’ and ‘Community Grantmaking’ programs, which were successfully piloted, will continue in 2025. Notably, the ‘Artists Elevated’ awards will increase to $35,000 and will adopt a new alternating discipline schedule, focusing on dance, film, literary, and music disciplines for 2025.
GCAC will also continue its support for established arts institutions through ‘Operating Support’ grants and assist smaller organizations with ‘General Support’ and ‘Cultural Festival’ grants. GCAC President and CEO Tom Katzenmeyer highlighted the robust funding from the City of Columbus, Franklin County, and the arts and culture ticket fee as enabling these enhanced support levels, emphasizing the economic impact these funds have on central Ohio.
