The Contemporary Arts Center (CAC) has unveiled its 2025-26 exhibition season, promising a lineup of solo shows and group presentations focused on themes of identity, memory, and resistance. The season aims to continue the CAC’s mission of serving as a hub for artistic exploration and shared meaning-making.
The season will feature solo exhibitions by Sheida Soleimani, presenting “What a Revolutionary Must Know” and “Pictures from a Gallery” by the late Lillian Schwartz, both running from October 18, 2025, to January 25, 2026. Following this, the annual MFA Exhibition showcasing graduate students from Miami University and the University of Cincinnati will be on view from February 20 to March 22, 2026. The season will conclude with exhibitions by Michael Stillion, “And then it was flowers,” and Gee Horton, “Chapter 4: In Another Lifetime,” both opening April 24, 2026.
These exhibitions highlight both local and global artists, with Soleimani’s work delving into her family’s history of political trauma and resistance, and Schwartz’s film exploring her Cincinnati roots through early digital art. Stillion’s work will examine portraiture and symbolism, while Horton’s hyperrealist portraits will focus on Black identity and intergenerational trauma. The CAC curator, Theresa Bembnister, stated that the season’s artists offer powerful reflections on the complexities of the world, encouraging connection and community.
