The Wexner Center for the Arts at The Ohio State University is set to present “Ximena Garrido-Lecca: Seedings,” a new exhibition featuring recently commissioned and created works by the acclaimed Peruvian artist. Running from February 14 to May 24, 2026, the exhibition will showcase Garrido-Lecca’s exploration of the symbolic meanings of organic and inorganic materials within Andean and Mesoamerican cultures.
Garrido-Lecca’s work utilizes elements such as seeds, plants, metals, and fibers to create immersive installations. “Seedings” specifically draws inspiration from global seed preservation practices, including ancient Andean traditions and modern facilities like the Svalbard Global Seed Vault. The exhibition highlights the symbiotic “Three Sisters” cultivation method and addresses contemporary issues of seed conservation, climate change, and environmental policy through a participatory installation that invites viewers to interact with seeds.
This exhibition marks Garrido-Lecca’s first presentation in Ohio and underscores the Wexner Center’s commitment to supporting international artists who push the boundaries of their respective fields. “Ximena Garrido-Lecca: Seedings” is organized by the Wexner Center for the Arts and curated by Julieta González, Head of Visual Arts, with co-curation by Rebecca Lowery. The exhibition opening celebration is scheduled for Friday, February 13, 2026.
