ProMusica Chamber Orchestra will feature Mark Kosower, Principal Cellist of The Cleveland Orchestra, in a special concert program titled ‘Mozart & Gulda.’ The performances are scheduled for December 13 and 14 at the Southern Theatre, both beginning at 7 p.m., and will be led by Music Director David Danzmayr.
The program promises a diverse musical experience, opening with William Grant Still’s ‘The American Scene: Suite No.1, “The East.”’ It will also include Friedrich Gulda’s rarely performed ‘Concerto for Cello and Wind Orchestra,’ highlighting Kosower’s celebrated modern interpretations and championing the composer’s jazz-influenced style in the US. The concert will conclude with two Mozart symphonies: the early brilliance of Symphony No. 22 and the energetic, mature mastery of Symphony No. 35 “Haffner.”
Mark Kosower, renowned for his expressive cello playing, brings a wealth of experience as a soloist, chamber, and orchestral musician. His return to ProMusica is anticipated to offer audiences a captivating journey through different musical genres and eras, showcasing both his individual artistry and the orchestra’s dynamic programming. Tickets and subscription information are available through the ProMusica Box Office.
