Beck Center for the Arts in Lakewood, Ohio, is celebrating its 50th anniversary of dance programming with a new original ballet production, “Little Red Riding Hood.” This whimsical reimagining of the classic fairy tale features a playful storyline where the Wolf, intrigued by Granny’s “magical” cake, embarks on a humorous quest to obtain it. The production incorporates familiar characters from the tale alongside guest appearances by Cinderella and Goldilocks, alongside a host of woodland creatures.
The ballet, choreographed by Melissa Yarur, showcases the talents of over 95 dancers of various ages and experience levels from Beck Center’s Dance Workshop. Set to music by composers including Prokofiev, Delibes, and Strauss, the production promises a joyful springtime adventure. “Little Red Riding Hood” will be performed in the Senney Theater at Beck Center for the Arts, with a sensory-friendly showing on Friday, April 10, 2026, at 10:00 AM. Public performances include a family-friendly matinee on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at 2:00 PM (with limited seating), an evening performance on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at 7:00 PM, and a final matinee on Sunday, April 12, 2026, at 2:00 PM.
