The Cleveland Museum of Art has issued an open call for artist submissions for “Lake Effect: Artists from Cleveland Now,” a juried group exhibition at Transformer Station in the Ohio City neighborhood of Hingetown. The show will run from July 9 through November 22, 2026.
The exhibition marks the museum’s 110th anniversary and draws on the legacy of the institution’s historic May Show, which for decades served as a platform for regional artists. Artists who live or work in Northeast Ohio — specifically Cuyahoga, Geauga, Lake, Lorain, Medina, Portage, and Summit counties — are eligible to apply. Applicants must be at least 18 years old, and all media are accepted, from painting and sculpture to video, textiles, and installation work. Both individual and collaborative proposals will be considered.
A curatorial jury of CMA staff and museum professionals will evaluate submissions based on artistic merit and installation feasibility. Three $1,000 micro-grants will be awarded to selected artists. The submission deadline is April 24, 2026, with notifications going out by May 1. Applications are accepted through the museum’s online portal.
