BalletMet presented “For the Love of Dance!” at the Davidson Theatre in Columbus from March 20 through 28, a triple bill of contemporary ballet works. The program featured three distinct pieces showcasing a range of choreographic voices and artistic collaborations.
The lineup included Juanjo Arqués’ “Ignite,” inspired by the paintings of J.M.W. Turner; Alexei Ratmansky’s “Seven Sonatas,” a work for six dancers set to the keyboard music of Domenico Scarlatti; and a world premiere, “Divide and Conquer,” by BalletMet company member Leiland Charles. Charles developed the piece in collaboration with students from the Columbus College of Art and Design.
The approximately two-hour program ran for multiple performances over the nine-day engagement. Tickets were available through the BalletMet box office and the CAPA Ticket Center.
