Great Lakes Theater has announced a six-show lineup for its 65th anniversary season, running September 2026 through May 2027 at Playhouse Square’s Hanna and Mimi Ohio Theatres. Producing Artistic Director Sara Bruner will lead the milestone season.

The slate opens with “The Winter’s Tale” (Sept. 25 – Oct. 11) in a modern verse translation by Tracy Young, followed by Stephen Sondheim’s “Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street” (Oct. 23 – Nov. 8). The company’s 38th annual production of “A Christmas Carol” returns to the Mimi Ohio Theatre from Nov. 27 through Dec. 20. The spring half of the season brings “The Comedy of Errors” (Feb. 5–21) in a modern verse translation by Christina Anderson, “Les Misérables” (March 12 – April 4), and Oscar Wilde’s “The Importance of Being Earnest” (April 23 – May 9).

Both Shakespeare translations come through Great Lakes Theater’s partnership with Play On Shakespeare. Five of the six productions will be staged in the Hanna Theatre’s 550-seat thrust configuration, while “A Christmas Carol” remains in its traditional home. Season subscriptions are available through the theater’s website.
