Playhouse Square announced its 2026-27 KeyBank Broadway Series on March 25, bringing seven productions to Cleveland beginning in September. The season opens Sept. 12 with Death Becomes Her, a Tony Award-winning musical comedy based on the 1992 film starring Meryl Streep, Goldie Hawn, and Bruce Willis. The touring production will have its launch at Playhouse Square, continuing the organization’s recent tradition of hosting world-premiere touring casts.

“We’re ecstatic to usher in a new season with the launch of this remarkable tour at Playhouse Square,” said David Greene, senior vice president of programming. “It’s an honor and privilege to witness a production come to life on our stage.” Greene noted that the extended rehearsal period also provides a meaningful boost to the local economy. Death Becomes Her runs Sept. 12 through Oct. 3.

The seven-show series continues with a revival of Mamma Mia! running Jan. 5-24, 2027, among other titles. The series, presented as the KeyBank Broadway Series, runs across Playhouse Square’s venues in downtown Cleveland including the KeyBank State Theatre and Connor Palace. Subscription packages are now available at playhousesquare.org.
