Columbus’s Short North Arts District opens its April 2026 gallery exhibitions this week, with venues along North High Street and Lincoln Street presenting new shows ahead of the monthly Gallery Hop on Saturday, April 4. This month’s open-call juried exhibition at Studios on High Gallery (686 N. High St.), titled “Hit the Hop: Lightfall,” explores how light interacts with matter.

Among the featured shows, Between the Walls (1160 N. High St.) presents painting, drawing, and photo collage by Chloe Milan, who also runs Queer Art Club Columbus, a monthly gathering for LGBTQ+ creatives. The Marcia Evans Gallery (8 E. Lincoln St.) displays environmental abstract oil paintings by Annette Poitau. Sharon Weiss Gallery (20 E. Lincoln St.) features Edmund Boateng’s architectural photography of Columbus buildings. Columbus Museum of Art at The Pizzuti (632 Park St.) offers “Root System: Selections from Columbus Reggae Archives,” documenting the city’s reggae music scene from the late 1970s to the present.

Gallery Hop runs on the first Saturday of each month, with most venues open from noon to 8 p.m. The event is supported by the Ohio Arts Council, Columbus Makes Art, the Greater Columbus Arts Council, and Music Columbus. Public art in the district includes the Summer Spray collaborative mural wall and “The Gathered,” a 625-square-foot tile mosaic by Andrew Hendrixson at 35 E. Hubbard Ave.
