The Toledo Museum of Art has received the top honor in the USA Today 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards for the second consecutive year, claiming the title of Best Art Museum in America. The museum also earned the designation of Best Free Art Museum in the country in the annual reader-voted competition.

Museum president, director and CEO Adam Levine announced the awards to staff on February 26. He noted the vote placed Toledo’s museum ahead of some of the country’s largest institutions, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. “The fact we won in a vote demonstrates two incredible things,” Levine said. “First, the passion and commitment people in our community have for this extraordinary institution. Second, it also demonstrates the national and international respect for the work that so many of you are doing and for the governance of our board.”

Founded in 1901, the Toledo Museum of Art houses more than 25,000 works spanning antiquity to the present and is internationally recognized for its glass collection. The museum’s 40-acre campus is open free of charge to the public, with hours Wednesday through Sunday. The museum is located at 2445 Monroe St. in Toledo, one block off I-75.
