Cincinnati Opera will hold open casting calls for non-singing, non-speaking supernumerary roles in its 2026 Summer Festival, the company announced on March 9. Auditions are scheduled for Wednesday, April 22, from 6 to 9 p.m., and Saturday, April 25, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Corbett Opera Center at Music Hall, 1243 Elm Street, Cincinnati. No prior experience is required.
Supernumerary roles — commonly called “supers” — are equivalent to extras in film and television. Participants will share the stage at Cincinnati Music Hall with internationally recognized artists under the direction of celebrated conductors and directors. The company is seeking applicants of all ages, races, ethnicities, genders, and abilities. All positions are voluntary.
The 2026 Summer Festival includes productions of Salome and Lalovavi, the latter of which will receive its world premiere. For Salome, with performances June 18 and 20, the company is seeking four adults — three guards and one executioner. Additional super roles for other productions will also be cast at the sessions.
Cincinnati Opera was founded in 1920 and is the second-oldest opera company in the United States. Its summer season is staged at Cincinnati Music Hall. Further information is available at cincinnatiopera.org or by calling 513-241-2742.
