The Cleveland Museum of Art has issued an open call for artists for “Lake Effect: Artists from Cleveland Now,” a juried group exhibition that will be presented at the museum’s Transformer Station in Ohio City from July 9 through November 22, 2026. The call, announced January 20, is part of the museum’s 110th anniversary programming.

The exhibition is open to artists who live and/or work in Northeast Ohio, encompassing Cuyahoga, Geauga, Lake, Lorain, Medina, Portage, and Summit counties. Artists must be 18 or older, and works in all media are eligible — including painting, sculpture, photography, video, installation, textile, ceramics, and mixed media. Both individual and collaborative submissions are welcome. Works must have been completed within the last five years.

The exhibition draws on the legacy of the museum’s May Show, an annual juried exhibition that ran from 1919 to 1993 and served as a forum for regional artists. A curatorial jury of Cleveland Museum of Art staff will review submissions based on artistic excellence and installation feasibility. Three micro-grants of $1,000 each will be awarded to selected artists.

The submission deadline is Friday, April 24, with selection notifications sent May 1. Full submission requirements are available at lakeeffect-artists-fromclevelandnow.artcall.org. The Transformer Station is located in Ohio City’s Hingetown neighborhood.
