The Columbus Symphony has announced its 2026–27 season, marking the orchestra’s 75th anniversary. Under Music Director Rossen Milanov, the twelve-program season combines classical masterworks with newly commissioned works and features the orchestra’s return to Carnegie Hall for the first time in 25 years. The New York appearance, planned for October 2026, will include the world premiere of “The Mysteries” by composer Gregory Spears alongside Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 5, with bass-baritone Davóne Tines as featured soloist.
The season includes three major choral works — Verdi’s Requiem, Haydn’s The Creation, and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 — alongside compositions by contemporary composers including Missy Mazzoli, Osvaldo Golijov, and Caroline Shaw. A new work titled “Concerto No. 2: ANTHEM,” addressing racial equity and social justice, is also on the program. CEO Maureen O’Brien described the milestone season as “both a celebration of the past and a bold statement about the future.”
Founded in 1951, the Columbus Symphony reaches more than 55,000 students annually through education programs including Young People’s Concerts, school performances, and the newly launched CSO Kids digital platform serving grades K–6. The Columbus Symphony Youth Orchestras and The Academy provide performance and mentorship opportunities for developing musicians across Central Ohio. Season and single-ticket sales are available through the orchestra’s website.
