Cincinnati Opera and the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM) will present a public preview of “O’Keeffe: Kiss the Sky,” a new opera-ballet commissioned by Washington National Opera, on March 31, 2026. The preview is part of the Opera Fusion: New Works Partnership, a long-running collaboration between Cincinnati Opera and CCM designed to develop and workshop new operatic works.
“O’Keeffe: Kiss the Sky” features music by composer Christopher Tin, best known for his Grammy-winning choral work “Baba Yetu,” and a libretto by librettist Kelley Rourke. The work explores the life and art of Georgia O’Keeffe, the influential American modernist painter associated with the American Southwest. Soprano Christine Goerke, known for her work in major Wagnerian and Strauss roles with leading opera companies worldwide, is set to perform in the preview production.
The Opera Fusion: New Works Partnership has been a source of world premieres and developmental productions since its founding. The March 31 preview is intended to give Cincinnati-area audiences an early look at the work before its full premiere at Washington National Opera. Cincinnati Opera’s 2026 Summer Festival runs in July and August at Music Hall in Cincinnati.
