The Columbus Symphony has announced its 2026-27 Cardinal Health Masterworks Season, a four-program series built around major choral-orchestral works and anchored by Music Director Rossen Milanov. The season opens with a world premiere and includes a Carnegie Hall appearance in October.
The first program, on Oct. 23 and 24 at the Ohio Theatre, pairs the world premiere of Gregory Spears’ “The Mysteries” — a work commissioned by the Columbus Symphony — with bass-baritone Davone Tines performing his own “Concerto No. 2: ANTHEM.” The program travels to Carnegie Hall on Oct. 28. The season continues Nov. 20 and 21 with Verdi’s Requiem, featuring soprano Ann Toomey, mezzo-soprano Alice Chung, tenor Moises Salazar, and bass-baritone Richard Ollarsaba, with the Columbus Symphony Chorus under Chorus Director Stephen Caracciolo.
The second half of the season brings Haydn’s “The Creation” on March 12 and 13, 2027, with soprano Aubry Ballaro, tenor Nicholas Nestorak, and baritone Joel Balzun as soloists. The season concludes April 30 and May 1, 2027 with Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9, featuring soprano Lydia Grindatto, mezzo-soprano Mariya Kaganskaya, tenor Victor Starsky, and bass-baritone Cumhur Gorgün. The organization marks its 75th anniversary during the 2026-27 season.
