The Akron Art Museum, in partnership with the Cuyahoga Valley National Park and the Conservancy for Cuyahoga Valley National Park, is set to present “Ordinary Miracles: Robert Glenn Ketchum’s Photographs of Cuyahoga Valley National Park.” This exhibition will open on August 9, 2025, in the Fred and Laura Ruth Bidwell Gallery. It will feature large-scale, vibrant photographs by acclaimed artist and environmental advocate Robert Glenn Ketchum.
Ketchum was commissioned by the Akron Art Museum between 1986 and 1988 to photograph the Cuyahoga Valley National Recreation Area. His work captures the area’s natural beauty and cultural significance, aiming to highlight themes of conservation and the human connection to the landscape. The exhibition is timed to coincide with the 50th anniversary of Cuyahoga Valley National Park and offers a retrospective look at the park’s landscape from nearly four decades ago.
Jon Fiume, CEO of the Akron Art Museum, stated that the photographs are “history, preservation, and advocacy captured in color,” emphasizing the exhibition’s role in marking the park’s milestone. Greg Peckham, President & CEO of the Conservancy, added that the photos “underscore the value of our public lands and the importance of caring for them together.” The exhibition will run until January 25, 2026.
