The Columbus Museum of Art opened two new exhibitions on April 15, 2026: “East of the Pacific: Making Histories of Asian American Art,” on view through August 16, and “Greater Columbus: The 2026 Visual Arts Fellowship Exhibition,” running through September 20. Both are free and open to the public at the museum’s main building at 480 East Broad Street in Columbus.

“East of the Pacific” features more than 60 artworks by artists of Asian descent, spanning from the mid-nineteenth century through the present day. The exhibition reframes the history of Asian American art by presenting artists who worked across diverse traditions and geographies, offering a critical counterpart to conventional survey histories of American art. The museum announced the exhibition in March and described it as an occasion to reconsider who has been included in — and excluded from — mainstream accounts of American art history.

“Greater Columbus: The 2026 Visual Arts Fellowship Exhibition” presents work by the recipients of the museum’s annual Visual Arts Fellowship, an award supporting professional artists based in the greater Columbus region. The fellowship is among the most significant regional prizes for working visual artists in central Ohio. Information on the fellowship program and current recipients is available at columbusmuseum.org.
