Beck Center for the Arts in Lakewood will present the youth theater musical Alice By Heart at the Senney Theater, running May 1 through May 10, 2026. The production features 22 Beck Center student performers between the ages of 12 and 18, and is directed and choreographed by Sarah Clare with music direction by Heidi Herczeg.

The musical, with book by Steven Sater and Jessie Nelson and music by Duncan Sheik, is set during the London Blitz of World War II. Two teenagers sheltering in an underground station find comfort in the stories of Alice in Wonderland as one of them grows gravely ill — exploring themes of loss, first love, imagination, and resilience. Director Clare has described the production as reflecting “how to leave childhood behind, overcome difficult times, and use imagination and art.”

Performances run Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 3:00 p.m. on May 1-3 and May 8-10. A student matinee is scheduled for Thursday, May 7 at 10:00 a.m. Tickets are $15 for adults and seniors and $13 for children and students 18 and under. Tickets are available at beckcenter.org, by phone at (216) 521-2540, or in person at the box office. Beck Center for the Arts is located in Lakewood, Ohio.
