BalletMet has announced its 2026-27 season, the company’s 49th, featuring seven productions at venues across Columbus including the Ohio Theatre and BalletMet Performance Space. The season opens Sept. 10 and runs through May 2027, with a program spanning newly commissioned works, international choreographic collaborations, and classical staples.

The season launches with Future Icons: A BalletMet Choreographic Project (Sept. 10-12, BalletMet Performance Space), in which three choreographers selected through an international competition will create world premiere works for the company. That is followed by Marilyn (Oct. 16-24, Davidson Theatre), a new full-length ballet exploring the life of Marilyn Monroe, with choreography by Dani Rowe and an original score by Shannon Rugani. The production is a three-company collaboration among BalletMet, Tulsa Ballet, and Oregon Ballet Theatre. The Nutcracker returns Dec. 10-27 at the Ohio Theatre, including a sensory-friendly My First Nutcracker option.

The second half of the season features a world premiere reimagining of Swan Lake (Feb. 19-21, 2027, Ohio Theatre) by choreographer Remi Wörtmeyer, performed with live accompaniment by the Columbus Symphony Orchestra. The lineup also includes For the Love of Dance 2.0 (April 2-10, 2027), a contemporary triple bill featuring William Forsythe’s In the Middle, Somewhat Elevated; My First Sleeping Beauty (April 17-18, 2027), a sensory-friendly production for children ages 3 and up; and CARMEN.maquia (May 14-22, 2027), a contemporary interpretation of Bizet’s opera by Spanish choreographer Gustavo Ramirez Sansano.
