BalletMet has announced its 2026-27 season, the company’s 49th, featuring seven productions including a world premiere “Swan Lake” choreographed by Artistic Director Remi Wortmeyer with live Columbus Symphony accompaniment. The season opens in September with “Future Icons,” a new initiative presenting world premieres by three internationally selected choreographers.
Other highlights include “Marilyn,” a new ballet celebrating Marilyn Monroe’s life with original music by Shannon Rugani and choreography by Dani Rowe, produced in collaboration with Tulsa Ballet and Oregon Ballet Theatre. The spring lineup features William Forsythe’s “In the Middle, Somewhat Elevated” as part of the “For the Love of Dance 2.0” program, along with a contemporary reimagining of Carmen by Gustavo Ramirez Sansano titled “CARMEN.maquia.”
Family-friendly programming includes the return of “The Nutcracker” in December and a new one-hour sensory-friendly “My First Sleeping Beauty” in April for ages three and up, performed by BalletMet 2 and academy students. Subscriptions go on sale May 1, with individual tickets available beginning August 1.
