The Columbus Association for the Performing Arts has received a naming gift from the Wrightsel Family Foundation for its downtown performing arts project. The renovated venue, to be called Wrightsel Music Hall, will transform the historic Central Presbyterian Church at 132 South Third Street into a mid-sized performance space. Demolition is set to begin later in May 2026, with a public opening anticipated in fall 2027.

The 1859 building will address the region’s shortage of mid-sized performance venues. The project has drawn support from more than 250 families, corporations, foundations, and government donors, including American Electric Power Foundation, Bank of America, the City of Columbus, The Columbus Foundation, Nationwide Foundation, and the State of Ohio.

“Naming the venue Wrightsel Music Hall is a way to honor our family’s commitment to the arts and to support the incredible work CAPA does,” said Brent Wrightsel. CAPA President and CEO Chad Whittington called the community’s support “instrumental in bringing this vision to life.”
