The Columbus Symphony will present two free outdoor family concerts at Columbus Commons this summer, supported by a $25,000 contribution from Honda. The Nationwide Popcorn Pops concerts are designed for children ages 3 to 12, with pre-concert activities beginning at 5:30 p.m. and performances starting at 6 p.m.

The first concert, on June 26, will feature Prokofiev’s “Peter and the Wolf,” followed by an outdoor screening of “Zootopia 2.” The second, on July 10, is billed as “Symphonic Surprise!” with an interactive format and a screening of “Up.” Both performances will be led by assistant conductor Elias Miller and narrated by Z.F. Taylor. Pre-concert activities include face painting, lawn games, an instrument petting zoo, and free popcorn.

“By offering these concerts for free, we remove a critical barrier to participation and provide meaningful access,” said Meghan McDevitt, vice president of education for the Columbus Symphony.
