The Columbus Association for the Performing Arts will present its 57th Summer Movie Series at the Ohio Theatre from June 18 through August 16. The series will feature 28 films over nine weeks, including 13 series premieres, three tributes to Hollywood figures, six anniversary screenings, a silent film with live musical accompaniment, and two Saturday mornings of classic cartoons.

This year’s lineup includes a partnership with Ohio Goes to the Movies, a statewide celebration of films connected to Ohio as part of America’s 250th anniversary. Two free screenings are planned through the program: Lee Daniels’ “The Butler,” based on the book by Columbus native Wil Haygood, on June 19; and “Coal Miner’s Daughter,” starring Columbus native Beverly D’Angelo as Patsy Cline, on July 22. Haygood will attend the June 19 screening to introduce the film.

The CAPA Summer Movie Series is the longest-running classic film series in the country. Films screen at the Ohio Theatre, 39 E. State St. in downtown Columbus. The full schedule and tickets are available at capa.com.
