The Cleveland Orchestra has announced a special performance featuring world-renowned cellist Yo-Yo Ma on Thursday, November 6, 2025, at Severance Music Center. Conducted by James Feddeck, the concert will showcase a program of operatic overtures by Johann Strauss Jr., Mozart, and Dvořák, culminating in Yo-Yo Ma’s rendition of Dvořák’s Cello Concerto.
The evening promises a journey through musical history, with overtures tracing a path from Vienna to Prague. Dvořák’s Cello Concerto, a celebrated piece of the Romantic repertoire, is a highlight, with Ma’s interpretation often described as definitive. This performance marks a significant event for music enthusiasts, offering a chance to experience a master cellist with a celebrated orchestra.
In addition to the Yo-Yo Ma concert, Severance Music Center will also host Helen Welch performing a tribute to the Carpenters on October 17, 2025, and Apollo’s Fire performing Mozart’s Requiem alongside a new premiere by Eric Gould on November 8, 2025. Ticket information for these events indicates that priority sales for donors and subscribers begin June 26, with general public sales starting June 27.
