The Cleveland Orchestra has announced the election of Richard J. Kramer as the new Chair of its Board of Trustees. The decision was made at the Orchestra’s annual meeting on October 9th. Kramer, the former Chairman, Chief Executive Officer, and President of The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company, joined the Orchestra’s board in 2018 and has served as Vice Chair since 2023.

Kramer brings extensive business and community leadership experience to his new role. He has been an active participant in various Orchestra committees, including finance, governance, and personnel. His appointment is seen as a significant step in guiding the Orchestra’s future, with President & CEO André Gremillet highlighting Kramer’s business acumen and commitment to the Orchestra’s mission.

Kramer, who succeeds Richard K. Smucker, expressed his honor in taking on the position and his dedication to ensuring the institution’s continued excellence and inspiration. He will collaborate with the Orchestra’s officers, executive committee, and leadership to provide strategic direction and support.
