The Cleveland Orchestra has announced a substantial gift from The Eric and Jane Nord Family Fund, aimed at significantly advancing its educational vision. This generous donation establishes the Jane B. and Eric T. Nord Education Leadership and Internship Endowed Fund and creates the Jane B. and Eric T. Nord Vice President of Education & Community Engagement position. These initiatives underscore the Orchestra’s long-standing commitment to providing high-quality, learner-centered music education experiences.
The gift will support key leadership roles dedicated to overseeing a wide array of educational programs, including those at Severance Music Center, school and university partnerships, digital learning content, and adult education. It also provides crucial funding for a paid internship program within the education department, offering valuable experience to college and graduate students. This investment builds on the Nord family’s history of supporting the Orchestra’s educational outreach, including previous initiatives that ensured free access to education concerts for children in the region.
André Gremillet, President & CEO of The Cleveland Orchestra, highlighted the gift’s importance in shaping and enhancing accessibility to the Orchestra’s educational programs, ensuring future generations will continue to be inspired by music. Joan Katz Napoli, who holds the newly endowed Vice President position, expressed her gratitude for the continuous support, emphasizing the gift’s role in fostering inspiration, joy, and opportunity through music education for children in Northeast Ohio.
