The Akron Art Museum has announced the appointment of Jenny Gerow as its new Chief Curator. Gerow officially began her role last week, bringing more than 20 years of curatorial experience to the museum. Her appointment is expected to significantly enhance the museum’s exhibition program and its engagement with contemporary art, particularly in areas like digital installations and new media.

Gerow’s extensive background includes leadership positions such as Chief Curator of Contemporary Art at BRIC in Brooklyn, New York. Her career has encompassed a wide range of curatorial activities, including gallery exhibitions, public art projects, and interdisciplinary programming across various cities. She holds a BA in English Language and Literature from the University of Virginia and an MA in Modern Art History from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
