The Columbus Museum of Art (CMA) has announced the appointment of Brooke A. Minto as its new Executive Director and CEO. Minto, who brings over two decades of experience in arts administration, art history, and education from various museums and arts organizations, will assume her new role on May 15, 2023. She succeeds Nannette Maciejunes, who served in the position for 20 years.

The museum’s board of trustees selected Minto based on her leadership skills and experience, which align with CMA’s priorities of visionary leadership, strategic partnerships, and advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion. Minto previously served as the inaugural executive director of the Black Trustee Alliance for Art Museums (BTA), an organization focused on improving equity within art museums. Her extensive career also includes leadership roles at the Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa (Zeitz MOCAA), the New Museum of Contemporary Art, the New Orleans Museum of Art, and the Pérez Art Museum Miami.

Minto, whose academic and curatorial interests lie in the contemporary art of the global African diaspora, expressed enthusiasm for leading an institution that is community-embedded and dedicated to social change. In her new capacity, she will oversee the museum’s staff and budget, shape its future vision, and work to enhance its impact and accessibility within the community.
