The Greater Columbus Arts Council (GCAC) has announced the three recipients of the 2023 Thrive grant awards: A Tribe For Jazz, Kingdom Image Arts, and Use Your Ears. This program, which will conclude after this year, provides three-year grants and resources to arts and cultural organizations led by and serving people of color, aiming to address historical funding disparities.

Launched in 2020, the Thrive program has supported a total of twelve organizations. Each recipient receives $10,000 annually, access to professional development resources, and mentorship opportunities. The 2023 cohort represents the final group to receive funding through this specific program, as GCAC plans to explore new avenues for supporting BIPOC-led and -serving organizations.

The selected organizations are A Tribe For Jazz, which focuses on preserving jazz through visual storytelling and performances; Kingdom Image Arts, dedicated to empowering communities through inspirational arts and performances; and Use Your Ears, a nonprofit that cultivates opportunities for youth to create and perform original music. These organizations contribute to increasing arts access and supporting living wages for artists in Columbus.
