The Greater Columbus Arts Council (GCAC) has announced the five recipients of its 2023 Artists Elevated awards. Each artist will receive an unrestricted grant of $25,000 to support their professional careers. The selected artists are Jenny Deller, Noah Dixon, Marcus Jackson, Joan Madison, and Ricarrdo Valentine, all of whom have demonstrated significant artistic achievement and commitment to the Columbus arts community.

This year’s awards saw an expansion from two to five recipients, with an additional award made in honor of Nick and Donna Akins for their contributions to the arts. The selection process involved nominations from community and arts leaders, followed by applications from a competitive pool of artists. A national jury of seven creatives from various disciplines reviewed the applications to determine the recipients based on the strength of their work and potential for career advancement.

The Artists Elevated awards are a key initiative of GCAC’s endowment campaign aimed at directly investing in individual artists. The recipients and nine finalists will be honored at GCAC’s Big Arts Night event on November 2, 2023, at the Southern Theatre and Westin Great Southern Columbus.
