Christina Vassallo has announced her departure as the Alice & Harris Weston Director of the Contemporary Arts Center (CAC) in Cincinnati, effective January 2, 2026. Vassallo will be taking on the role of Executive Director at The Pew Center for Arts & Heritage in Philadelphia. The CAC’s Board of Directors has engaged Museum Search & Reference (MS&R) to facilitate the search for an interim director and a permanent successor.

Vassallo joined the CAC in March 2023, initiating a strategic planning process that focused on community engagement, sustainability, global connections, and a forward-looking artistic vision. During her tenure, she oversaw the celebration of the Zaha Hadid-designed building’s 20th anniversary, supported numerous exhibitions including solo shows by Vivian Browne and Jayson Musson, and co-launched the “Ohio Now” triennial.

The CAC board expressed gratitude for Vassallo’s leadership, highlighting her role in strengthening the organization’s financial stability and enhancing its reputation for presenting challenging and inspirational contemporary art. Vassallo stated her pride in the exhibitions and partnerships developed during her time at CAC and her commitment to fostering empathy through contemporary art experiences.
