Cincinnati Museum Center (CMC), in collaboration with the Nancy & David Wolf Holocaust & Humanity Center (HHC) and the Jewish Bicentennial Committee, has opened a new exhibition titled “Our Shared Story: 200 Years of Jewish Cincinnati.” This exhibition, which is part of the ongoing Jewish Cincinnati Bicentennial celebration, explores the significant and lasting impact of the city’s Jewish community over two centuries.
The exhibition, located at Cincinnati Museum Center at Union Terminal, showcases the traditions, culture, and history of Jewish life in Cincinnati. It highlights the contributions of both prominent figures and everyday individuals to various aspects of the city, including its food, medicine, arts, and social justice movements. The display traces the community’s origins from the founding of the first Jewish cemetery in 1821 to its diverse present-day presence.
“Our Shared Story” features artifacts, personal stories, and interactive elements that illustrate Jewish heritage and its integration into the broader Cincinnati narrative. The exhibition aims to celebrate the vibrancy, inclusivity, and complexity of Jewish history in the region and its ongoing influence on the city’s identity. It will be on view through October 2, 2022, and is included with general admission to CMC or the Holocaust & Humanity Center.
