The Cincinnati Art Museum has issued a statement addressing a community conversation surrounding an element of the exhibition “Black & Brown Faces: Paying Homage To,” presented by Paloozanoire. This exhibition, which opened on March 25, 2022, and runs through June 19, 2022, features 15 Midwestern artists of color paired with 15 community honorees. Paloozanoire, a Cincinnati-based organization focused on empowering people of color, curated the exhibition through a community committee, with artworks inspired by interviews with the honorees.
The museum emphasized its support for Paloozanoire’s intention to foster community dialogue on challenging topics, aligning with the museum’s mission to inspire and connect communities through art. The statement also included a strong stance against violence towards police or community members, asserting that free expression is crucial for dialogue and partnerships. The museum highlighted its commitment to representing diverse experiences through its collections and exhibitions.
The Cincinnati Art Museum, supported by various donors and organizations including ArtsWave and the Ohio Arts Council, offers free general admission thanks to the Rosenthal Family Foundation. Information on parking and special exhibition pricing is available on their website.
