The Greater Columbus Arts Council (GCAC) recently celebrated local artistic achievements by announcing the nominees and winners of its 2022 Community Arts Partnership (CAP) Awards, presented during the reimagined “Big Arts Night” event. This year’s event introduced the Columbus Makes Art Excellence Awards, recognizing outstanding contributions in innovation, risk-taking, and artistic quality across various projects and performances.

Two $10,000 Columbus Makes Art Excellence Awards were presented: “We Amplify Voices: Life Stories” received the award for organizations with budgets under $1 million, and “CATCO: School Girls; Or, The African Mean Girls Play” took home the award for organizations with budgets over $1 million. In addition to these, several other significant CAP awards were announced in categories such as Arts Educator, Arts Partner, Emerging Arts Leader, Employer, and Community Arts Innovation.
