The Greater Columbus Arts Council (GCAC), in collaboration with the Columbus Museum of Art and community leaders, has announced the opening of applications for the 2022 Aminah Brenda Lynn Robinson Residency. This national residency program is dedicated to honoring the legacy of Columbus artist Aminah Brenda Lynn Robinson.

The residency offers a unique opportunity for an African American visual artist from across the United States to live and work for 90 days in Robinson’s restored home and studio in the Shepard community. Scheduled from September 1 to November 30, 2022, the selected artist will receive a $15,000 award, with lodging and studio access provided. The residency also requires community engagement activities and offers a platform for a public presentation or exhibition.

Applications are now open until April 29, with the chosen resident to be notified in early May. This initiative, launched in 2020, aims to support and foster the work of African American visual artists, continuing Robinson’s artistic spirit and contributions.
