The Contemporary Arts Center (CAC) has announced its robust programming lineup for 2022, featuring a wide array of exhibitions, performances, and public programs. The season aims to explore pressing contemporary issues such as race, identity, feminism, and climate change through the work of local and international artists. “The resulting season is wide-ranging in media and focus, examining topics as varied as race and identity, feminism, climate change, and our state’s own creative ecosystems,” stated Marcus Margerum, the CAC’s Interim Alice & Harris Weston Director.
The year kicks off in April with the annual performance festival, ‘This Time Tomorrow,’ running from April 6-10, showcasing new commissions and premieres by artists like Radouan Mriziga and Alice Ripoll. May brings the group exhibition ‘Breaking Water,’ which delves into themes of water, liquidity, feminism, and climate justice. The CAC’s lobby will also host ‘The Center of Unfinished Business,’ a discursive program and reading room organized by Contemporary And (C&), focusing on African American and African diasporic experiences through the lens of water. The fall season includes a lobby installation by Ohio-based artist Cameron Granger and a significant presence in the 2022 FotoFocus Biennial, featuring exhibitions such as ‘On The Line: Documents of Risk and Faith,’ ‘Images on which to build, 1970-90,’ and the Midwest’s first solo museum exhibition by Baseera Khan.
