The Cleveland Museum of Art has announced its lineup of exhibitions and events for August 2021, offering a diverse range of artistic explorations. Highlights include ‘Private Lives: Home and Family in the Art of the Nabis, Paris, 1889–1900,’ which delves into the intimate portrayals of domestic life by Post-Impressionist artists. This exhibition is a collaboration with the Portland Art Museum and runs through September 19.
Other featured exhibitions include ‘Variations: The Reuse of Models in Paintings by Orazio and Artemisia Gentileschi,’ concluding on August 22, and ‘Rinpa (琳派),’ exploring a distinct style of Japanese art through October 3. The museum is also presenting ‘Interpretation of Materiality: Gold,’ focusing on Korean artists’ use of gold, and ‘A New York Minute: Street Photography, 1920–1950,’ showcasing candid urban life captured by photographers.
Further exhibitions include ‘From Caves to Tombs: Chinese Pictorial Rubbings from Stone Reliefs,’ ‘Ashcan School Prints and the American City, 1900–1940,’ and ‘Fashioning Identity: Mola Textiles of Panamá.’ The museum is also reintroducing its contemporary art galleries, featuring works by women artists and artists of color. Additionally, ‘New Histories, New Futures’ at Transformer Station showcases contemporary artists engaging with historical narratives.
