The Cleveland Museum of Art has released its exhibition schedule extending through May 2022, featuring a diverse range of artistic periods and styles. The schedule includes a significant focus on contemporary art, with exhibitions like “Laura Owens: Rerun” at Transformer Station and a reinstallation of the museum’s contemporary galleries. These exhibitions aim to foster new conversations and explore contemporary artistic practices.
The schedule also highlights historical art movements and cultural traditions. Visitors can anticipate exhibitions such as “Bruce Davidson: Brooklyn Gang,” which offers a look into American documentary photography, “Gustave Baumann: Colorful Cuts” showcasing the artist’s woodcuts, and “Variations: The Reuse of Models in Paintings by Orazio and Artemisia Gentileschi,” examining artistic techniques. Additionally, the museum will present “Rinpa (琳派),” exploring a Japanese art style, and “Interpretation of Materiality: Gold,” focusing on Korean art.
Further programming includes “Fashioning Identity: Mola Textiles of Panamá,” which delves into cultural heritage through textiles, and “Art of the Islamic World,” presenting works from the 8th to 19th centuries. “Medieval Treasures from Münster Cathedral” will offer a glimpse into European medieval art, while “From Caves to Tombs: Chinese Pictorial Rubbings” and “New Histories, New Futures” showcase significant Chinese and contemporary works, respectively. The schedule also features “Private Lives: Home and Family in the Art of the Nabis, Paris, 1889–1900,” “A New York Minute: Street Photography, 1920–1950,” “Ashcan School Prints and the American City, 1900–1940,” “Collecting Dreams: Odilon Redon,” and “Picturing Motherhood Now,” offering a broad spectrum of artistic expression and historical context.
