The Wexner Center for the Arts will present its 2021 Lambert Family Lecture on Monday, March 29, at 7 PM ET. The annual event, which promotes dialogue on global issues and contemporary culture, will feature a virtual discussion between artist Taryn Simon and writer Teju Cole.
The conversation will explore Simon’s artistic practice, the creative process, and the significance of art in offering insight and resistance. Cole, author of works such as ‘Known and Strange Things,’ previously wrote an essay for The New York Times Magazine reflecting on Simon’s exhibition ‘Paperwork and the Will of Capital.’ The lecture aims to delve into how art can provide comfort, insight, or a means of resistance against disillusionment and grief, touching on the idea of photographs preserving what might otherwise be lost.
The lecture will be accessible online for free with an RSVP. The event will include live captioning, and accommodations can be requested by contacting the Accessibility Manager. The Lambert Family Lecture Series was established in 2004 through the Lambert Family Lecture Series Endowment Fund.
