The Greater Columbus Arts Council (GCAC) has approved 25 grants totaling $3,308,601 as part of its 2021 Operating Support: Phase Two funding initiative. This second round of grants, following an initial announcement in June, aims to support established arts and cultural organizations in Columbus as they continue to navigate post-pandemic recovery.
The funding, derived from the city of Columbus’s hotel/motel bed tax and arts and culture fee, along with contributions from Franklin County, is crucial for the sustained operation and artistic programming of local institutions. GCAC President and CEO Tom Katzenmeyer emphasized the importance of this support for cultural organizations, noting that recovery from the pandemic will be a long-term process. The grants acknowledge the significant adaptations and innovations undertaken by these organizations throughout the challenging period.
